You've probably heard or seen this before. "I'm all for green energy". Than there will be a proposal for a wind farm or a neighbor wants to install a wind generator and there story suddenly changes to "not in my backyard!"

There are an increasingly number of stories such as this. I've received quite a few from readers of the site as well. A lot of people talk the talk, but when it comes down to it they'll show their true colors.

That's why I was excited to read about John Prescott (politician in the U.K.). You see, he's been heavily criticising anybody who uses NIMBY.

It was especially funny to hear a politician announce the annual Age Of Stupid awards which is named after an environmental film which criticises those who fail to act on climate change.

I've personally received well over 100 people who have emailed me and said that neighbors ... not the law were the ones who had prevented them from putting up a wind generator. I've even had emails from people who have been blocked from putting up solar panels!! Simply because they would "be an eyesore".

So here's my proposal. I say we take the Age Of Stupid awards to a new level. We could make up little buttons and stickers and maybe even trophies. Anybody that pulls NIMBY could get one.

In the end the Age Of Stupid awards won't help in my opinion. I'm sure we'll probably keep killing ourselves until something drastic happens and we're forced to change. Such is the way of the human race.
