As with all things, the more you look around the better deals you'll find. When I first started looking around for wind generator parts I was floored at how much they were! After a long time looking around I've found some great inexpensive sources for wind generator parts.

This article will outline the parts that you should buy to build your wind generator as it makes it easier to build, but it keeps the cost of your wind generator way down. It is possible to build wind generator blades and the hub, and I'll get into that tutorial in another article.

Wind Generator Blades

If you don't feel up to building your own blades then you can buy blades. Prices have some down quite a bit so I recommend buying blades. The blades and motor are the most important parts so if you can afford it I'd buy blades. The windmax blades have low start up speed so I'd recommend you look out for those. Next to the blades the motor that you use can have a huge impact on how much power your wind generator can produce. The motor pictured at the left is an Ametek motor which has the hub attached. I recommend the Ametek motors as they are excellent quality and are quite inexpensive. Here's the link that you can use to find wind generator motors:

If your wind generator doesn't come with a hub you'll have to buy one as well. You can build your own, but the hub needs to be balanced and it can be a little tricky to balance them.  Make sure to check that your hub will fit your blades. It's not that important, but it saves you time if all the bolts fit easily. Here's the link for wind generator hubs:

Remember, if you don't find good deals when you first look, make sure to check back in a couple days as better deals can come along.
