Starting The Wind Generator Body

Well, now that we've attached the blades to the hub we need to build the body of the wind generator so we can attach the hub. In this step we're not going to be building the entire body we're only mounting the motor so we can attach the blades and balance them.

I do need to mention that if you're using fiberglass blades you don't need to worry about balancing them and can skip the next step.

What Do You Need?

  • Piece of 2" x 4" (painted white or whatever color your want)
  • Metal Strapping (also known as all-round
  • Some wood screws
  • Your motor
  • Screwdriver

Basically what we want to do in this step is use the metal strapping and attach the motor to our piece of 2" x 4". You'll need to pieces of metal strapping that can wrap around your motor and be screwed into the wood.

I've given the wood several coats of white paint to protect it from the elements... we don't need any swelling or rotting.

Below I've got some pictures and the video shows you how to put it together.
